Institute: Dr. AC Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital, Bhubaneswar
Principal investigator: Dr. Akshaya Kumar Mishra
Abstract:
Objectives: The study was undertaken with the objective to ascertain the effects of homeopathic constitutional medicines and organopathic medicines in treatment of patients suffering from Benign Hypertrophy of the Prostate
Methodology: 180 cases divided into 3 groups i.e. Group – I receiving only constitutional medicine,
Group – II receiving only organopathic medicine and Group – III receiving both constitutional and organopathic medicines were followed up in the study. Assessment was based on size of prostate, residual volume of urine and on the basis of IPSS scoring.
Observations: While considering International prostate Symptom Score (IPSS), improvement was observed in all the 3 groups i.e. constitutional group (68.63%), organopathic group (64.7%) and combined group (64.29%). As regards size of prostrate, no remarkable improvement was observed. Only 2 cases belonging to organopathic group and 3 cases of combined group showed some improvement as
regards size of Prostate. 121 cases had residual volume more than 130 ml before treatment. Out of these, in 50 cases residual volume came within normal limits. 26.47% cases of constitutional group, 51.11% cases of Organopathic group and 42.85% cases of combined group showed a decrease in residual volume of urine.
Conclusion: Administration of constitutional medicine along with organopathic medicine is more effective than either constitutional medicine or organopathic medicine alone. Although there was no reduction in prostate size but further increase of size is arrested after prolonged treatment of homoeopathic medicines.
